بدأت جمعية التنمية الزراعية "الإغاثة الزراعية" استلام المرحلة الأولى من أعمال تأهيل آبار جمع مياه الأمطار لصالح مربي الثروة الحيوانية في منطقتي عرب الرماضين وعرب الفريجات جنوب محافظة الخليل، ضمن أنشطة مشروع "الإدارة المستدامة لمصادر المياه من أجل دعم الزراعة في جنوب الخليل"، المنفذ من قبل الاغاثة الزراعية بالشراكة مع المؤسسة الألمانية للتعاون الدولي (GIZ)،  بتمويل من الوزارة الاتحادية الألمانية للتعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية (BMZ). 

وشملت المرحلة الأولى استلام 23 بئرًا من أصل 41 بئرًا، جرى تأهيلها بهدف تحسين كفاءة جمع مياه الأمطار والاستفادة منها في سقاية الأغنام، بما يساهم في تقليل اعتماد المربين على شراء المياه، في ظل شح مصادر المياه وارتفاع تكاليف تربية الثروة الحيوانية.

وتضمنت أعمال التأهيل إنشاء أحواض ترسيب وقنوات لتجميع مياه الأمطار، بما يعالج التحديات التي كانت تواجه المربين نتيجة ضعف كفاءة الآبار في جمع المياه قبل التدخل. كما رافق النشاط تدريب المستفيدين على الاستخدام الأمثل للمياه، وآليات تنظيم السقاية وفق احتياجات الأغنام المختلفة بين فصلَي الشتاء والصيف، وبما يتناسب مع احتياجات الأمهات والمواليد.

ويستهدف هذا التدخل مربي الثروة الحيوانية من الفئات الصغيرة والمتوسطة، الذين يواجهون تحديات متزايدة نتيجة ارتفاع تكاليف المياه والأعلاف، الأمر الذي دفع بعضهم للتفكير في تقليص أو بيع جزء من قطعانهم. ومن هنا، يأتي تأهيل هذه الآبار كحل عملي ومستدام يساهم في تخفيف الأعباء الاقتصادية عليهم، وتعزيز قدرتهم على الاستمرار في تربية الثروة الحيوانية.

ويأتي هذا النشاط في إطار مبادرات الأمن المائي التي تنفذها الإغاثة الزراعية لتعزيز صمود المزارعين والمربين في المناطق المهمشة، من خلال حلول مستدامة تشمل جمع مياه الأمطار وإعادة استخدام المياه الرمادية في الزراعة المنزلية، بما يعزز الاعتماد على الذات ويحسن الظروف المعيشية للأسر الريفية.

 

Sustainable Water Solutions Protect Livelihoods of Livestock Breeders in Vulnerable Areas

 

The Palestinian Agricultural Development Association (PARC) has begun receiving the first phase of rehabilitation works for rainwater harvesting wells benefiting livestock breeders in Arab Al-Ramadin and Arab Al-Fureijat areas, south of Hebron Governorate. This activity is implemented under the project “Sustainable Water Resources Management to Support Agriculture in South Hebron,” implemented by PARC in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The first phase included the handover of 23 wells out of a total of 41 wells being rehabilitated to improve rainwater collection efficiency and enhance their use for watering sheep. This intervention contributes to reducing breeders’ dependence on purchased water amid increasing water scarcity and rising livestock production costs.

The rehabilitation works included the construction of sedimentation basins and rainwater collection channels, addressing the challenges breeders previously faced due to the poor efficiency of the wells in harvesting water before the intervention. In addition, beneficiaries received training on the efficient use of water and proper watering practices according to seasonal needs and the varying requirements of sheep, including ewes and newborn lambs.

This intervention targets small- and medium-scale livestock breeders who are facing growing challenges due to rising water and feed costs, which have pushed some of them to consider reducing or selling parts of their herds. Therefore, rehabilitating these wells provides a practical and sustainable solution that helps reduce economic burdens and strengthens breeders’ ability to continue livestock production activities.

 

This activity comes within the framework of water security initiatives implemented by PARC to strengthen the resilience of farmers and livestock breeders in marginalized areas through sustainable solutions, including rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse for home gardening, contributing to greater self-reliance and improved living conditions for rural families.
