Job purpose summary:

MPCA social worker is responsible for implementing unconditional, unrestricted cash transfers to vulnerable, crisis-affected households. Their primary role is to ensure that aid reaches beneficiaries efficiently, transparently, and in compliance with organizational and donor standards

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly 

Main Tasks and Duties:

  • Beneficiary Identification & Registration: Conducting vulnerability assessments and targeting eligible households based on predefined criteria, often in coordination with local community leaders.
  • Data Management & Documentation: Collecting, entering, and managing accurate beneficiary data in databases (e.g., Kobo tool) for reporting and to ensure accountability.
  • Cash Distribution Support: Facilitating the distribution process, which may include working with financial service providers, assisting in payment, and ensuring the safety of beneficiaries during distributions.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Conducting Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) visits to assess the impact of the assistance, gathering beneficiary feedback, and reporting on progress to project managers.
  • Community Engagement: Informing communities about the program, entitlements, and complaint mechanisms.
Job Requirements:

Qualifications, Requirements, and Competences:

  • Education: A National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Sociology, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience: Usually 1–3 years of experience in humanitarian contexts, specifically with NGOs and cash assistance programs.
  • Skills: Proficiency in data collection, basic computer skills (Excel, Word), strong communication skills (including local languages), and the ability to work in stressful environments.
  • Competencies: Commitment to humanitarian principles, including accountability and protection, with a focus on serving vulnerable populations
