Job Purpose
The Community Engagement Officer will support the implementation of community engagement activities within displacement sites by strengthening communication and participation of displaced communities. The position will facilitate coordination with community protection committees, support awareness activities, manage community feedback mechanisms, and ensure that community needs and concerns are effectively communicated to the project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain effective relationships with displaced communities, community protection committees, and local stakeholders.
- Conduct regular field visits to identify community needs, concerns, and priorities.
- Support the organization of community meetings, awareness sessions, consultations, and engagement activities.
- Facilitate the activation and follow-up of complaints and feedback mechanisms (CFM), ensuring proper documentation and referral of issues.
- Support inclusive participation of women, children, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable groups in community activities.
- Coordinate with protection committees to ensure community concerns are considered in project planning and implementation.
- Support the dissemination of information about available services, project activities, and referral pathways.
- Maintain records of community activities, meetings, feedback, and follow-up actions.
- Prepare regular activity reports and contribute to project monitoring and documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Development Studies, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in community engagement, humanitarian response, protection, or site management.
- Experience working with displaced communities, community committees, and humanitarian organizations.
- Experience facilitating awareness sessions, community consultations, and feedback mechanisms.
- Good understanding of humanitarian principles, accountability to affected populations (AAP), and protection mainstreaming.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups.
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in emergency contexts
- Fluency in Arabic and good command of English.
