بدأت جمعية التنمية الزراعية "الإغاثة الزراعية"، بالشراكة مع Christian Aid – DEC، تنفيذ أعمال لصيانة شبكة الصرف الصحي القائمة في عدد من الأحياء السكنية ومخيمات النزوح في خانيونس، استجابةً للاحتياجات المتزايدة الناتجة عن الأعطال والانسدادات وحالات طفح مياه الصرف الصحي في عدد من المناطق.

وتنفذ الأعمال في المناطق المحيطة بمبنى صناعة الوكالة وأبراج طيبة، إلى جانب عدد من الأحياء السكنية ومخيمات النزوح والمناطق المحيطة، بالتنسيق مع بلدية خانيونس، وذلك ضمن مشروع «الدعم الإنساني المتكامل والتعافي المبكر لفلسطين: سُبُل إلى السلامة والتعافي والمرونة – المرحلة الثانية

وجاء التدخل استجابةً للمناشدات والشكاوى المتكررة من السكان بشأن اختناقات وأعطال في شبكة الصرف الصحي، وما نتج عنها من تجمع مياه الصرف الصحي وطفحها في الشوارع والمناطق المحيطة، بما يشكل مخاطر صحية وبيئية على السكان والنازحين والأسر العائدة إلى المنطقة.

وتشمل الأعمال صيانة المناهل وخطوط الصرف الصحي القائمة، وتنظيف وتسليك 6 مناهل لإزالة الرواسب والانسدادات وتحسين تدفق المياه، إلى جانب توريد وتركيب نحو 30 متراً من خطوط الصرف الصحي بقطر 6 إنش.

كما تتضمن التدخلات تركيب مناهل تفتيش جديدة بأقطار مختلفة، تصل إلى متر واحد و60 سم، وبأعماق تتناسب مع طبيعة المواقع واحتياجات الشبكة، إضافة إلى صيانة المناهل القائمة وتركيب أغطية وأسقف جديدة بأقطار 80 سم و60 سم و40 سم، وتنفيذ أعمال التركيب والملحقات اللازمة لضمان سلامة الشبكة واستمرارية عملها.

وتكتسب أعمال الصيانة أهمية إضافية مع اقتراب موسم الشتاء، إذ قد تؤدي الأمطار وتجمع المياه إلى زيادة الضغط على شبكات الصرف الصحي المتضررة، وتفاقم مشكلات الانسداد والطفح وتجمع المياه الملوثة.

ويهدف التدخل إلى تحسين كفاءة شبكة الصرف الصحي والحد من الانسدادات والطفح، وتقليل المخاطر الصحية والبيئية المرتبطة بتجمع مياه الصرف الصحي والروائح والحشرات، بما يساعد على تحسين الظروف الصحية والمعيشية في المناطق المستهدفة.

ويأتي هذا التدخل ضمن جهود الإغاثة الزراعية وشركائها في توفير الخدمات الأساسية والاستجابة للاحتياجات العاجلة للسكان، ودعم مسار التعافي المبكر وتحسين الظروف المعيشية في المجتمعات المتضررة.

 

 

PARC Implements Initiative to Maintain the Wastewater Network in Khan Younis to Reduce Sewage Overflow Risks and Improve Sanitation Conditions

The Palestinian Agricultural Development Association (PARC), in partnership with Christian Aid – DEC, has launched an initiative to maintain the existing wastewater network in several areas, residential neighborhoods, and displacement camps in Khan Younis, as part of the project:

“Integrated Humanitarian Support and Early Recovery for Palestine: Pathways to Safety, Recovery, and Resilience – Phase II.”

The initiative comes in response to repeated appeals and complaints from residents, particularly in the areas surrounding the Agency Industry Building and Taiba Towers, as well as nearby residential neighborhoods and displacement camps. These areas have experienced malfunctions and blockages in the wastewater network, resulting in sewage overflows and the accumulation of wastewater in streets and surrounding areas. The intervention is being implemented in coordination with the Khan Younis Municipality.

The initiative includes the maintenance of existing manholes and wastewater pipelines, as well as the cleaning and unclogging of six existing wastewater manholes to remove accumulated sediment and blockages and improve wastewater flow. It also includes the supply and installation of approximately 30 meters of 6-inch-diameter wastewater pipelines.

The works also involve the installation of new inspection manholes of different diameters, including 1-meter-diameter manholes and smaller manholes with diameters of up to 60 cm, at varying depths according to site conditions and network requirements. In addition, existing manholes will be rehabilitated through the installation of new covers and slabs with diameters of 80 cm, 60 cm, and 40 cm, along with all necessary installation works and accessories to ensure the safety and continued functionality of the network.

These interventions are particularly important as preparations are underway for the upcoming winter season. Rainfall and water accumulation may place additional pressure on damaged wastewater networks, potentially worsening blockages, sewage overflows, and the accumulation of contaminated water.

The initiative aims to improve the efficiency of the wastewater network, reduce sewage overflows and blockages, and mitigate health and environmental risks associated with the accumulation of wastewater, unpleasant odors, and the spread of insects. This will contribute to improving sanitation and living conditions for residents, displaced people, and families returning to the area and surrounding communities.

Through partnerships with supporting organizations, PARC continues to implement humanitarian interventions and essential services that respond to the urgent needs of communities, support early recovery efforts, and strengthen the ability of affected communities to access a safer and healthier environment.
