Following the demolition of the artesian well in the village of Beit Dajan, located in the Nablus Governorate, last Thursday — an act that directly impacted over 100 dunums of tomato crops grown in greenhouses — the Beit Dajan Village Council and affected farmers issued an urgent appeal on Sunday to the Agricultural Development Association (PARC), stating:
The Village Council of Beit Dajan has developed an urgent alternative plan to save more than 100 dunums of productive agricultural land, with a seasonal output valued at over 2 million shekels. These lands were previously irrigated by the destroyed well. The proposed plan entails the construction of an alternative water reservoir to ensure continued irrigation, prevent crop loss due to drought, and safeguard the livelihoods of farmers, their families, and agricultural workers in Beit Dajan.
Upon receiving the appeal, PARC made the decision to intervene immediately by adopting the proposed plan and start implementation within the next 48 hours. PARC also instructed its field teams to fully mobilize to ensure timely completion of the intervention.
